Who we are
Wealth Atlas Ltd, Dennis Pritt Road, Nairobi, Kenya, is the data controller for the Wealth Atlas app, website and advisory desk, under the Data Protection Act, 2019 and the Data Protection (General) Regulations, 2021, supervised by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC). Wealth Atlas Ltd is part of Wealth Atlas LLC, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware, United States, which owns the platform and its intellectual property.
Our ODPC data-controller registration number will be published here once issued.
1. What we collect
Account: name, email address, phone number and sign-in, handled by Clerk (we never see or store your password).
Financial data you add: holdings, accounts, goals, budgets, liabilities, income, insurance and net worth; statements or screenshots you upload are read for the holdings they contain and then discarded.
Brokerage links: read-only balances and holdings from brokerages you connect through SnapTrade. Wealth Atlas can never place a trade or move money.
Investor profile: your answers about income range, savings, debt, knowledge, goals and dependants.
Atlas AI: your conversations with the assistant.
Device and usage: a push token for notifications, app version and crash diagnostics; on the website, pages visited and device type.
Membership: whether your annual subscription is paid, from the desk's register.
2. Why, and on what basis
- To run the app and your membership — performance of our contract with you: tracking your portfolio, projections, research, notifications you switch on.
- To advise you — your consent. Your portfolio, goals and risk profile are visible to your Wealth Atlas advisor only while the "Share my portfolio with my advisor" switch in the app is on. Off by default; withdraw at any time from Account → Your advisor.
- To keep the service safe and lawful — our legitimate interests and legal obligations: security, fraud prevention, regulatory record-keeping.
- Marketing — only with your consent, and you can opt out in every message and in the app.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for automated decisions with legal effect on you.
3. Who sees it
You, always. Your advisor, only where you have switched sharing on; every view is written to an access log you will be able to see in the app. Service providers under contract, each only for its job:
- Clerk — sign-in and session security.
- SnapTrade — read-only brokerage links; connection keys are encrypted at rest with a key held only by Wealth Atlas.
- DigitalOcean (London) — hosting, encrypted database and storage, and the models that read statements and answer Atlas AI. Images are not stored; only the holdings you confirm are.
- Expo — push notification delivery; the content is generated by us.
- Google — email delivery and the desk's membership register.
We may disclose data where the law requires it, for example to the Capital Markets Authority or a court. Some of these providers process data outside Kenya; where they do, we rely on contractual safeguards and their published security certifications, as the Act permits.
4. How we protect it
Encryption in transit and at rest; brokerage keys, advisor notes and recommendations additionally encrypted with keys held only by Wealth Atlas; access to member financial data limited to owners of the advisory desk, re-verified every ten minutes and logged; App Lock (Face ID, fingerprint or PIN) in the app; regular security review. If a personal-data breach occurs we will notify the ODPC within 72 hours and affected members without undue delay.
5. How long we keep it
- Portfolio, profile and account data: while you have an account. Deleting your account (Account → Delete account) removes it immediately and permanently, including brokerage links and your sign-in.
- Atlas AI conversations: 90 days, or sooner if you delete them.
- Advisor access log: two years.
- Membership and payment records: seven years after the end of your membership, as financial-services record-keeping requires.
6. Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you can ask us what we hold, correct it, have it erased, object to or restrict processing, take it with you, and withdraw consent at any time. In the app, Account → Your data explains all of this and lets you download everything as a file, edit anything, switch advisor sharing and notifications off, or delete your account. Otherwise write to [email protected]; we answer within 14 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, odpc.go.ke.
7. Cookies
Our website uses cookies to remember your preferences and analyse usage. You may disable cookies in your browser, though this may affect some functionality. We do not use cookies for advertising.
8. Changes
When this notice changes materially we show it again in the app and ask you to acknowledge it, and we send a note to members. Earlier versions are available on request.
